Mamas, this is for you. From my heart to yours.

I was nursing Zephyr down for his nap, the weight of his little body resting against mine, his breath slowing, melting into sleep. My plan was to get up, put him down, and use that time to do all the things—clean up, meditate, journal, shower, maybe even just breathe alone for a moment.

But then the downloads started coming. The realizations. The whispers of wisdom that only come when I slow down enough to listen.

And instead of getting up, I stayed. I held him. I nursed him. I continued to rock him, letting myself be fully present in the moment, in the stillness, in the sacredness of this season of motherhood. I held him and meditated his entire nap.

Because I don’t wanna miss a thing.

Zephyr is at this in-between place—he doesn’t want to crawl, doesn’t want to stay on the floor, but instead pulls himself to stand, trying to take steps but not quite there yet. He’s waking up at night (only once per night now—celebrate with me!), needing me to nurse him back to sleep, reaching for more independence but still holding on.

And I feel it—the pull between helping him move forward and savoring him right where he is.

I don’t have it all figured out. But here’s what I’m learning. Here’s what I want to pass on to you, mama, in case your heart needs to hear it too.

These are the downloads and realizations that came as I held him and stared at his soft, curled blonde hair…

1. I don’t wanna miss a thing.

If I don’t stay present, I know looking back, I’m going to miss this. The long nights. The extra snuggles. The tiny fingers wrapped around mine.

If I keep looking forward, waiting for the next step, I’ll blink and it’ll all be gone. So I remind myself: stay here, be here, don’t rush forward, don’t look back—just be.

2. No rush. Their timing is divine.

If Zephyr’s birth taught me anything, it’s this: “Don’t rush.” His time is his time. My time is my time. There is no delay. There is no behind or ahead. He will walk when he’s ready. Sleep when he’s ready.

If I try to push him forward, I miss the beauty of where he is now.

3. Making life easier for me can make it harder for him.

As mothers, we have a choice. Do we make things easier on us or on them?

Sure, I could teach him to self-soothe now, put him down, and walk away. That would be easier for me. But that would make things harder for him.

Or—I can hold him longer, meet his needs now, and trust that when he’s ready, he’ll step into his independence with confidence, not lack.

4. I will get my independence back. But babyhood doesn’t come back.

One day, I’ll sleep through the night again. One day, I won’t have a baby attached to me 24/7. But I will never get these baby days back.

And when they’re gone, they’re gone.

So instead of rushing to “get my time back,” I’m shifting my perspective to cherishing this season.

5. Nursing to sleep is more than just feeding—it’s a bridge back to the womb.

I kept telling myself I was doing him a disservice by nursing him to sleep, that I was making him too dependent. But then I received this download:

Nursing him to sleep isn’t just about food—it’s a spiritual tether.

It’s a bridge back to the safety of the womb. Back to the divine mother energy. Back to pure comfort.

Why would I rush him out of that before he’s ready?

6. I will not pressure him for my own comfort or independence.

I had this moment of realization: he will get there when he gets there.

His independence isn’t for me to control. It’s not about when I’m ready—it’s about when he is.

If I try to push him to be more independent before he’s truly ready, it’s for my own convenience, not his natural growth.

And I don’t want to parent from a place of my own discomfort—I want to parent from love, trust, and surrender.

7. Stay present without looking back so you don’t miss it.

It’s easy to look back and long for what was—to miss the newborn days, the fresh baby smell, the way they curled up so small in our arms.

And it’s easy to look forward, waiting for the next stage, the next milestone.

But what if we just stayed here?

What if we just soaked in the now?

Because this moment? It’s the one we’ll wish we could hold onto forever.

So, mama, if you’re in the thick of it—the sleepless nights, the exhaustion, the questioning if you’re doing it “right”—just know:

You are.

Your presence is enough.

Your love is enough.

You are enough.

And if nothing else, remember this:

Don’t miss a thing. ✨

Not by looking back, longing for the newborn days.

Not by looking forward, rushing the next milestone.

But by being right here. In the sacred now.

Because this moment? It’s the one we’ll wish we could hold onto forever.

I don’t wanna miss a thing, and I know you don’t either. 💛
